A Mother's Love

I will never forget the day I became a mother.

On December 20th 2005, my husband and I found ourselves in the maternity unit of a hospital in Corvallis Oregon. We were about to walk into the patient room of our sweet Michon. She, so incredibly, was putting all her trust, all her faith in us, to raise the most beautiful baby girl I had ever seen. Our daughter Isabella Mae was placed in my arms when she was two days old.

That experience will forever be etched into my soul. How privileged I feel to have witnessed first hand such a tender mercy. In that moment I knew without a doubt, that we were a family, and had been so long before we ever came to earth.

I was finally a mother. All the years of heartache, the tears and frustrations of getting to this point, were suddenly softened.

Ever since that day I have tried to live up to that sacred role that was placed upon my shoulders.

Motherhood brings me my greatest joy, and also my most difficult challenges. Our role as mothers is Huge.

Sheri Dew has said "Satan has declared war on motherhood. He knows that those who rock the cradle can rock his earthly empire...Motherhood is not what was left over after our Father in Heaven blessed His sons with priesthood ordination. It was the most ennobling endowment he could give his daughters, a sacred trust that gave women an unparalleled role in helping His children keep their second estate."

So...for all you women...whether you are seasoned mother's, new mother's, or not-yet-mother's. I hope you realize how incredible you are.

And to our wonderful Michon...

You are why I get to have this special day. We love you more than words can express!
